The Utah County Fair is one of those events that's easy to take for granted if you've lived here a while. It happens every summer, you mean to go, and then somehow the weekend passes. This is your reminder to actually put it on the calendar this year.
The 2026 Fair runs Wednesday July 29 through Saturday August 1 at the Spanish Fork Fairgrounds, 475 South Main Street. The theme is "There's Magic at the Fair" and the bulk of the events are free; which, for a four-day family event, is genuinely remarkable.
The schedule day by day
Tuesday July 28 — Early access
The 4-H Western Individual Horse Show kicks off in the Big Indoor Arena and Outdoor Arena from 8 AM to 8 PM on Tuesday the 28th; today, before the fair officially opens. Worth knowing if you have kids who love horses.
Wednesday July 29 — Opening day (4 PM to 10 PM)
Opening day includes the 4-H Dog Show in the morning, the 4-H Small Animals Show at 4:30 PM, and a free Western Rodeo at 7 PM featuring bull riding, barrel racing, and roping. The rodeo is free and open seating; arrive early for a good spot.
Thursday July 30 — Country Night (2 PM to 10 PM)
Thursday is Country Night at the Music Festival Tent Stage, running from 2 PM to 9 PM with four acts: James Gault, Magnolia Bloom, Cody Robbins, and The Real Doug, with headliner Susie Brown closing out the night at 8 PM. Also Thursday: Kids Corner activities all day, 4-H Market Beef, Goat, and Sheep shows, Competitive Arts Exhibits in the Exhibition Hall at 2 PM, Scales and Tails reptile and bird shows at the Family Fun Stage, and a magician at 3 PM and 8 PM. The Monster Truck Show runs 7 to 9 PM and requires a $15 ticket.
Friday July 31 — Battle of the Bands + Demolition Derby (Noon to 10 PM)
Friday includes the 4-H Market Hog Show, Competitive Arts Exhibits, a Vocal Competition from 2 to 5 PM, a Battle of the Bands from 6 to 9 PM, and a Hypnotist at 8 and 9 PM. The main event: the Demolition Derby at 7 PM, which requires a ticket ($25-$37). This is the fair's highest-energy night.
Saturday August 1 — Classic Rock + Closing Day (10 AM to 10 PM)
Saturday is the biggest day: a free Car Show from 10 AM to 4 PM featuring classic cars and hot rods with a People's Choice Award, a Tractor Pull from 2 to 5 PM, Classic Rock Night at the Music Festival Tent Stage all afternoon and evening with acts Sonestone, Paaradox, Exit Strategy, Code Blue, and headliner Atomic at 8 PM, plus a second Demolition Derby at 7 PM.
What's free and what costs money
Almost everything is free. The two paid events are the Monster Truck Show on Thursday ($15 per person) and the Demolition Derby on Friday and Saturday ($25-$37). Children two and under can lap sit for both. All other events — the rodeo, country night, classic rock night, livestock shows, car show, tractor pull, competitive arts, kids corner, and all the Family Fun Stage entertainment — are free with fair admission.

One thing worth noting for families with young kids
Mutton Bustin' is happening at the rodeo; kids must weigh less than 60 pounds and be between 5 and 7 years old. Registration opens July 24th at 8 AM by texting your child's name and age to 702-343-9346. Spots fill fast. If you have a kid in that age range, register this week.
Why this matters beyond the fair itself
The Utah County Fair has been running since 1856; 170 years. It's one of the oldest continuous community traditions in the county. The 4-H and FFA kids showing their animals have spent months preparing for this. The competitive arts entries represent real skill and real community. The rodeo is the genuine article.
Events like this are part of what makes Utah County feel like a community and not just a collection of zip codes. If you're new to the area, this is one of the better ways to get a feel for what this place actually is. If you've been here a while, it's worth going back.
